AUS vs PAK | Twitter ablaze after Abbas Afridi’s run-out decision triggers Irfan Khan’s explosive wrath

When the team is in trouble and the wickets are tumbling, the batters at the crease need to be cautious with their running between the wickets. Pakistan’s Abbas Afridi, however, ignored this in the third T20I where his reckless call for a run resulted in Irfan Khan’s run-out, leaving him frustrated.

‌Salman Agha led Pakistan opted to bat first, with Babar Azam and Sahibzada Farhan opening the innings, though Farhan fell early to Spencer Johnson. Babar and Haseebullah Khan steadied the innings, taking the score to 58/1 by the powerplay, but Zampa’s breakthrough dismissed Khan, followed by Usman Khan and skipper Salman departing cheaply. Babar’s promising 41 off 28 was cut short by Zampa in the 13th over, leaving Pakistan struggling. The innings hit its low point with Irfan Khan’s unfortunate run-out after a miscommunication with Abbas Afridi.

On the first ball of the 14th over, Aaron Hardie bowled a back-of-a-length delivery to Abbas Afridi, who clipped it to mid-wicket and immediately called for a single. Irfan responded, but Afridi quickly aborted the call and asked him to return. In the confusion, Spencer Johnson ran in and hit the stumps at the non-striker’s end, sending Irfan back to the pavilion. Frustrated, Irfan expressed his anger toward Afridi with hand gestures and shouts, while social media users also voiced their sympathy for his unfortunate run-out.
