ENG vs IND | Twitter on the edge as Siraj bursts out at Root after batter pulls out in last minute

Fast Bowling is the most thankless job in cricket, and bowling in Test matches is all the more difficult. Mohammed Siraj lost his cool, bursting out at Joe Root as the batter backed off at the last moment due to issues with the spider cam during the third Test between India and England at Lord’s.

‌After opting to bat on a flat deck in warm conditions, England lost both openers in the first session as they walked into lunch at 83/2. Though medium pacer Nitish Kumar Reddy accounted for Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley in the first session, England fought their way back as Joe Root and Ollie Pope kept them afloat in the next.

The pair ensured that the hosts did not lose another wicket as they avoided any risks to add just 70 runs in the next 24 overs, with Root completing a patient half-century. But Pope, against the run of play, was dismissed by left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja with the first ball after tea. And soon, England lost another in the form of Harry Brook as Bumrah castled him with a beauty.

However, England captain Ben Stokes and Root steadied things again when the latter irked Mohammed Siraj in the 66th over. Just as Siraj was about to deliver the third ball of that over, the veteran batter pulled out at the last minute, pointing towards the spider cam.

The pacer, who wears his heart on his sleeve, was unimpressed, bursting out with Root’s action and stopping just short of throwing the red cherry towards the stumps. The horrified Root tried to pacify the quick, mentioning that the camera had come into his eyeline. But the flared up Siraj walked back to his run-up, nodding his head and making his displeasure clear to the camera operators too.

Twitter sat on the edge as they watched the proceedings unfold with bated breath.
