WATC, MLC | Boult's all round performance takes MINY into Qualifier 2

The game of cricket is full of surprises, where the fans witness players giving performances that exceed expectations. New Zealand and MI New York star pace bowler Trent Boult was one of the players who proved this theory in the eliminator game against the San Francisco Unicorns.

‌The eliminator game between the SFU and MINY was a low-scoring event. The New York franchise won the game by two wickets, chasing down the target of 132 with just three balls to spare. Boult was the star of the match, who not only bowled a terrific spell but also played a crucial cameo with the bat. This was a performance that changed the game for the Unicorns, who were otherwise looking like the favorites to win the match at one stage.

Boult ended with figures of 2/19 in his four overs, dismissing Unicorns' dangerous batters  Tim Seifert and Jake Fraser-McGurk in the first innings. While Boult might have thought that his job was done there, the New York franchise was in trouble at 107-7. However, the legendary pacer took responsibility with the bat and scored 22 off 13 deliveries, which included two big sixes over cow corner of Hasan Khan, who was also the best bowler for the San Francisco franchise in the match with a four-wicket haul. Boult formed an important ninth-wicket partnership of 24 runs alongside Nosthush Kenjige, which helped his team cross the finish line.

This victory ensured MINY qualified for the second qualifier and will be up against Texas Super Kings (TSK). The Nicholas Pooran-led side is just one win away from making it to their second final in the franchise league.
