GSL 2025 Preview | Rangpur Riders aim to go top as Dubai Capitals struggle to stay afloat

Rangpur Riders will meet Dubai Capitals in the eighth game of the Global Super League 2025 at Providence in Guyana on Wednesday. With two wins in two games, Rangpur are currently second in the GSL 2025 points table with four points, while Dubai are fourth with two points from three games.

‌Rangpur Riders will aim to continue their unbeaten run when they meet Dubai Capitals in the eighth match of the Global Super League 2025 at Providence, Guyana. The Bangladesh Premier League outfit has two wins from the first two matches, and a win will take them to the top of the points table.

Meanwhile, Dubai Capitals' fortunes have nosedived after starting the season with a clinical win over Central Districts in the inaugural match of the season. The International League T20 side went on to lose their next two matches and is currently placed second from bottom with two points.

Rangpur all-rounder Kyle Mayers leads the overall run charts in GSL 2025 with 111 runs from two matches at a strike rate of 152.05 and is yet to be dismissed in the tournament. Dubai’s Sediqullah Atal is second on the list with a tally of 91 runs, averaging 30.33 and striking at 178.43.

The Bangladesh duo of Khaled Ahmed and Shakib Al Hasan are on top of the bowling pile for Rangpur and Dubai, respectively, in GSL 2025. Khaled has been impressive with eight wickets from two matches at a stunning average of 7.75 and a strike rate of 6.00, while Shakib has picked up four wickets from three matches.

Pitch and Conditions

The surface at Providence, Guyana, is expected to be on the slower side, with spinners getting good support from it. All matches played here have been low-scoring ones with teams going past the 160-run mark only twice in 12 innings in the six matches so far. Incidentally, Dubai and Rangpur were the sides to do that with scores of 165 and 162, respectively, in the first two matches of GSL 2025.

It will be a cloudy day in Guyana with a couple of thunderstorms expected during the morning match. The temperatures are expected to be around 29 degrees with 81% chances of rain.
