Playing spin bowling in cricket is an art and Shreyas Iyer has been one of the better players of spinners in the current crop of Indian batters. The Punjab Kings skipper proved that again with his unbelievable run in IPL 2025 before finally getting dismissed for the first time this year against LSG.

‌Punjab Kings, keen to ensure early qualification to the playoffs, started off aggressively in Dharamsala with Prabhsimran Singh, Josh Inglis and Shreyas Iyer taking the home side to 66/2 at the end of the powerplay. The Punjab Kings skipper was well-set to take on the spin attack of LSG, led by Digvesh Rathi, in the middle phase of the match.

After getting three runs off three balls from the spinner’s first over, Shreyas sent the mystery spinner for a straight six in the first ball of his second. But Digvesh sent one full and wide of off stump the next ball and trying to go inside out the Indian middle-order batter lost his shape and spooned a catch to the fielder at backward point.

Though he could not train his guns against the spinners today, this was Shreyas’s first dismissal against a slower ball in IPL this year. He averages an astonishing 111.00 with an excellent strike rate of 150.00 as Twitter took note and applauded his unbelievable effort.
