DC vs GT | Twitter laughs as Kuldeep lambasts Kelkar's on-field decision after appeal succumbs to umpire's call

In a sport increasingly favouring power-hitting, bowlers often have to try and cling on to bits and pieces that fall their way. No wonder Kuldeep Yadav was livid at Kayur Kelkar on Sunday after the umpire gave Sai Sudharsan not-out on field for a marginal call that could've gone the bowler's way.

Gujarat Titans got off to yet another breathtaking start at the Arun Jaitley Stadium agianst Delhi Capitals as Sai Sudharsan put on a masterclass of strokemaking in the powerplay to make the scoreline read 59/0 at the end of six overs. The current Orange Cap holder struck seven boundaries and a maximum to race to 44 off just 23 deliveries even as his partner Shubman Gill was content playing anchor, putting opposition skipper Axar Patel in a dilemma even as he took the spread of field to bring wrist-spinners Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav into the mix. The latter, enjoying an exceptional season so far, seemed poised again to bring his team the crucial breakthrough but Lady Luck did not favour him and Kuldeep could not be more upset about it.

On the first ball of the eighth over, Kuldeep floated a ball from over the stumps on good length that left Sai stuck in his crease as he could not decide whether to come forward and go back, before the googly spun back in sharply and trapped the southpaw in front of the stumps. Kuldeep instantly went up in loud appeal but umpire Kayur Kelkar firmly nodded no -- his confidence not enough to deter Axar and Kuldeep from ging upstairs. Hawk-eye showed everything in place, except the ball wasn't clipping leg-stump enugh for the lights to go red as the screen read umpire's call, saving Sai from what felt like a sure shot dismissal.

Kuldeep could not believe his luck as he waved his hand in dismay before wlaking up to the umpire and confronting him as to why he did not rule in his decision, much to Twitterati's amusement.

Desperate times call for desperate measures and when a batter like KL Rahul is in full-flow, things barely get any worse for a bowling captain. Shubman Gill was thus feeling the heat in Delhi on Sunday and was forced by his bowler Mohammed Siraj to go upstairs, even when there was no reason to.
