Punjab Kings clinched a commanding seven-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in a high-stakes clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first. Mumbai openers Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma gave a steady start, adding 45 runs in five overs. Marco Jansen broke the stand by removing Rickelton, after which Suryakumar Yadav joined Rohit and kept the scoreboard ticking. Harpreet Brar dismissed Rohit, and Vyshak Vijaykumar removed Tilak Varma and Will Jacks in quick succession. At 131/4 after 15 overs, Suryakumar’s fluent 50 off 34 balls anchored the innings, helping Mumbai post 184/7, despite late wickets including Surya’s on the final ball.
Chasing 185, Punjab openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh gave a brisk start, reaching 34/0 in four overs. Prabhsimran fell to Bumrah, but Josh Inglis and Arya put on a dominant 100-run stand. Inglis struck a 28-ball fifty while Arya matched him with a 27-ball half-century. Santner dismissed Arya for 62 in the 15th over, and Inglis followed in the 18th, but Punjab needed just 11 runs off 13 balls by then. Captain Iyer guided the chase calmly, hitting the winning runs. With this clinical performance, Punjab secured a spot in Qualifier 1, continuing their strong run in the tournament.
