Coventry City boss Frank Lampard is heavily involved in summer recruitment as the club aims to build on their recent play-off run. Working closely with owner Doug King, Lampard is determined to improve squad balance and quality for a stronger 2025–26 campaign, with promotion remaining the key ambition.

For the 2025-26 season, Coventry City are preparing for another strong promotion push under head coach Frank Lampard. Despite falling short in the Championship play-offs last term, there’s growing optimism around the club’s direction. Lampard, who played a pivotal role in their recent resurgence, remains highly involved in the club’s summer recruitment strategy and he acknowledges that consistent improvement requires smart additions and believes much of the responsibility lies with him to guide the process.

In collaboration with owner Doug King, Lampard has been regularly discussing ways to make the squad more balanced and competitive and highlighted the importance of collective planning, recognising King’s investment and ambition to take Coventry City back to the Premier League. Although transfer activity may seem slow at the moment, Lampard is optimistic about strengthening key areas of the squad.

He has been evaluating the current setup and identifying where improvements are needed, ensuring that the club remains well-prepared for the challenges of the upcoming campaign. Lampard’s active participation in recruitment reflects a shared vision with the ownership — one focused on progress, accountability, and smart planning. The Sky Blues will now look to translate this intent into action with targeted signings in the summer transfer window to go one step further.
