With the intensity of last season's Premier League rivalry still fresh, Arsenal defender Gabriel has revealed how tensions with Erling Haaland reached boiling point during a heated 2–2 draw at the Etihad. The Brazilian centre-back recalled a series of on-field incidents, including Haaland throwing the ball at his head and knocking off his boot, which sparked provocation among Arsenal players.

Speaking on the ‘PodPah’ podcast, Gabriel described the Norwegian striker as “a beast” and praised his strength and speed, acknowledging how difficult it is to mark him with creative players like De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva feeding him. Gabriel noted that Haaland’s actions and celebrations — especially taunting Arsenal about their Premier League drought — fired up his team for the reverse fixture. In that game, Arsenal delivered a statement 5–1 win at the Emirates, which Gabriel called “historic,” saying the team was “out for blood.”

While Manchester City’s run of four consecutive Premier League titles ended due to a mid-season slump, Arsenal again finished without silverware, exiting the Champions League to eventual winners PSG. As Arsenal skip the FIFA Club World Cup, all eyes are on their upcoming domestic clashes with City, where this personal duel between Gabriel and Haaland is sure to reignite.
