Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, Bayern Munich’s top transfer target, reportedly prefers a move to FC Barcelona. Despite Bayern’s strong interest, Barcelona leads the race, though financial feasibility remains uncertain. The 22-year-old’s release clause and salary demands are key hurdles, with Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl staying tight-lipped post their 10–0 win over Auckland City FC.

With the summer transfer window heating up, Bayern Munich face a setback in their pursuit of Athletic Club winger Nico Williams. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 21-year-old Spaniard is prioritizing a move to FC Barcelona despite heavy interest from Bayern. While Williams remains Bayern’s top target, Barcelona are currently weighing options between Williams, Luis Díaz, and Marcus Rashford. Financial hurdles such as the release clause, payment terms, and wages may influence Barcelona's final decision, leaving the race technically open.

Williams' interest in joining Barcelona has complicated the plans of Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl, who had earmarked the young winger as a key summer signing. Eberl, however, refused to comment publicly following Bayern’s emphatic 10-0 win over Auckland City FC in the Club World Cup, claiming ignorance of the situation.

Despite Bayern's dominant display in the tournament, the uncertainty around Williams' transfer highlights the growing challenge the club faces in securing top-tier attacking talent. Williams, already a regular for Athletic Club and Spain, is being closely watched by multiple top European clubs. While Bayern remain persistent, they may soon need to explore alternatives should Barcelona act quickly to secure the winger.
