ENG vs IND | Twitter impressed as Bumrah’s fifer and Rahul’s fifty leaves match evenly poised

KL Rahul scored a patient half-century as India finished day two of the third Test against England at 145/3, still 242 runs behind the hosts’ tally. Earlier, Bumrah picked up his first five-wicket haul at Lord’s as England were bowled out for 387 with Joe Root completing his 37th Test century.
KL Rahul’s unbeaten half-century led India’s reply against England, with the visitors ending day two at 145/3. The opener scored 53 off 113 balls as India still needed 242 runs to go past the home side’s total. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah etched his name on the honours board at Lord’s, picking up his first five-wicket haul at the hallowed venue as England were bowled out for 387 in their first innings.
With England resuming action from their overnight score of 251/4, Joe Root completed his 37th century in Tests before pacer Jasprit Bumrah picked up three quick wickets, including the set duo of Ben Stokes and Root (104). But Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse frustrated India with an entertaining partnership as the hosts went in for lunch at 353/7.
England were soon bowled out in the middle session after Mohammed Siraj dismissed Smith (51) to break the 84-run partnership between him and Carse. The all-rounder impressed with his knock of 56, scoring six fours and a six, before being the last batter to be dismissed. For India, Jasprit Bumrah was the best bowler on display with a spell of 5/74, while Siraj and Nitish Kumar Reddy picked up two wickets each.
India recovered after the early loss of Yashasvi Jaiswal, with KL Rahul and Karun Nair handling a hostile spell from Jofra Archer to go into tea with the score reading 44/1 in 14 overs. The visitors lost two more wickets in the final session, with KL Rahul’s unbeaten half-century keeping India afloat as they finished the day’s play with 242 runs in arrears of England’s total.
