ENG vs IND | Twitter confused as Sai Sudharsan reminds of Gautam Gambhir's ‘roobish’ dismissal

Leaving the ball is often considered an art, especially in Test matches, but Sai Sudharsan was caught in no man’s land during the fourth Test against England in Manchester. The left-handed batter was in two minds as he ended up edging the ball with an awkward leave to be dismissed for nought.

‌England put themselves in the box seat against India with their aggressive batting display during the first session of day four of the Old Trafford Test. Starting the day at 544/7, skipper Ben Stokes completed his 14th hundred in Tests as England amassed 125 runs in just 22 overs to end their batting innings at 669.

India had to bat out of their skin with the visitors in arrears by 311 runs, and the start was definitely not something they could be proud of. In just the fourth ball of the innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal edged Chris Woakes, with Joe Root completing the catch on his second attempt at slips. In came Sai Sudharsan, India’s top scorer in the first innings, who was expected to take the side without further damage to lunch.

With Chris Woakes bowling on a short of a length outside off-stump first up, Sudharsan was caught in two minds whether to play or leave. He was a tad late in his decision to leave, as he ended up meeting the ball on the face of the bat while shouldering arms.

Harry Brook made no mistake at second slip as India sank to 0/2 in the first over with Chris Woakes going on a hat-trick in a dream start. Twitter was equally confused as Sudharsan reminded of current Indian coach Gautam Gambhir’s dismissal when he tried to fish a delivery outside off-stump during an England tour.
