ENG vs IND | Twitter and Gill exasperated as Jaiswal drop makes Bumrah's Brook setup go in vain

Gantavya Adukia

The main talking point before India visited England for five Tests was which three Jasprit Bumrah will play, and how Shubman Gill can extract the maximum from this limited unique resource. Turns out, none of that matters as long as the team cannot hold onto their catches, as was the case in Leeds.

‌India wrestled their way back into the tie shortly after Lunch on Day 3 when Prasidh Krishna had Jamie Smith hole out at square leg with the new ball due in three balls’ time. With a new batter Chris Woakes at the crease and Harry Brook looking settled, it was the perfect opportunity for the visitors to seize momentum with a fresh Jasprit Bumrah wielding the fresh new Dukes. However, the English pair stood resolute even as the premier pacer toiled, but Brook eventually broke in Bumrah’s third over albeit it amounted to nothing.
Bumrah teased Brook with a length delivery wide of off and the local boy obliged with a tentative dab towards third man, only to send the ball flying towards Yashasvi Jaiswal at fourth slip. However, the sheer pace at which the red cherry came caught the youngster off guard and all he could do was flap at it while it slipped in between his palms. Skipper Shubman Gill, standing next to Jaiswal, could not believe the reprieve as he swung his arm in frustration while Bumrah stood frustrated with his face in his palms.
Twitterati was no less disappointed.
