ENG vs IND | Twitter in splits as trauma-struck Jaiswal warns skip Gill of wandering tendencies

For a Test batter, run-outs are the most unforgivable and nightmarish mistake they can commit, a fact Yashasvi Jaiswal is well cognizant of. The Indian youngster voiced the same at Headingley on Friday when batting with captain Shubman Gill, having been previously stung by catastrophe in the past.
India moved past two late setbacks before Lunch on Day 1 of the first Test against England in Leeds to put England under the pump in the first hour of the second session. Shubman Gill played the role of aggressor in his first knock as captain, racing past 40 at almost run-a-ball while Jaiswal also cruised to a half-century on his maiden Test outing on English soil. However, it was not all smooth sailing for the duo.
Jaiswal had shown signs of nervy running right from the morning, even embroiling Rahul in a couple of instances where he seemed to set out for a run before changing his mind. Gill seemed to be suffering from the same antics and when confusion seemed to emanate again in the 38th over, Jaiswal chose to take accountability.
“Haa haa bolte rehna bas, meri aadat hai aage jaane ki. Mereko zor se no boldo chalega, meri aadat hai lekin [Keep saying no, I have a habit of shuffling forward. You can say no loudly it’s fine but I have a habit of shuffling out],” Jaiswal let his captain know, much to Twitterati’s amusement.
