As the World Cup qualifiers progressed, Harry Kane once again proved to be England’s saviour, scoring the only goal in a narrow 1-0 win over Andorra on June 7, 2025. Playing under new coach Thomas Tuchel, England struggled to break down a disciplined Andorran side ranked 173rd in the world. The breakthrough came in the 50th minute when Kane converted a rebound from Noni Madueke’s pass, marking his 72nd goal in 106 appearances for the national team.
Despite controlling possession and creating several chances, England lacked sharpness in front of goal. Eberechi Eze came close to doubling the lead but saw his header tipped onto the bar by goalkeeper Iker Álvarez. Tuchel, while pleased with the three points, was critical of the team’s performance, citing a drop in urgency and focus in the second half.
Still, the win kept England atop Group K with nine points from three matches and no goals conceded under Tuchel. It also extended their winning record against Andorra to seven games, with a combined score of 26 goals to none. England will next host Senegal in a friendly, continuing their preparations for qualification to the 2026 World Cup in North America.
