Chelsea now favours Liam Delap as their main forward.

Coming to the situation at Chelsea, the club has reportedly set a £50 million (€55–60m) asking price for striker Nicolas Jackson amid growing transfer interest. After a promising start with 17 goals in his debut season following a £32m move from Villarreal in 2023, the 24-year-old struggled in the latter half of the last campaign, managing just one Premier League goal and receiving two red cards in his final five appearances. One of those dismissals came in Chelsea's Club World Cup loss to Flamengo, where new £30m signing Liam Delap was preferred in the starting lineup.

While ex-Chelsea player John Obi Mikel believes Jackson should still be first-choice striker under Enzo Maresca, the club appears ready to back Delap going forward. Juventus have already initiated talks for Jackson, but may withdraw if Chelsea do not lower their valuation. An unnamed Premier League club is also reportedly in the race for his signature.

Despite his recent dip, some, like Flamengo boss Filipe Luis, still believe Jackson has the potential to become one of the world’s top strikers. Chelsea’s decision reflects their shift in attacking strategy, but they risk losing a physical presence up front that had previously benefited players like Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez.
