During the ongoing global tensions, Portugal football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has made headlines by sending a signed national team jersey to United States President Donald Trump. The shirt included a heartfelt message that read, “To President Donald J Trump. Praying for peace.” This symbolic gesture comes at a time when the world is grappling with multiple geopolitical crises, including the Russia-Ukraine war, the recent flare-up between Israel and Iran, and the India-Pakistan conflict following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
The jersey was presented to Trump during the G7 Summit in Alberta, Canada, by former Portugal Prime Minister and current President of the European Council, Antonio Costa. Trump publicly displayed the jersey, showcasing Ronaldo’s message in front of the media.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo was speculated to play in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, with rumours of a potential transfer to Al-Hilal.
However, the move didn’t materialise, and the 40-year-old star is currently spending time with his partner Georgina Rodríguez and their children. Ronaldo recently led Portugal to a UEFA Nations League triumph after a win against Spain at the Allianz Arena. He is expected to continue playing for Al-Nassr, having declined offers from rival clubs ahead of the Club World Cup.
