During the 2025 summer window, Liverpool is open to selling Darwin Nunez, whom they signed from Benfica in 2022 for a deal potentially worth £85 million. The Uruguayan striker is now reportedly available for around £60 million, with the club aiming to reinvest the proceeds in a new forward. Three clubs have emerged as potential destinations: AC Milan, Napoli, and Al-Hilal. Milan, finishing 8th in Serie A, prefers a loan move due to financial constraints, which doesn’t align with Liverpool's plans.
Similarly, Napoli—despite being financially strong after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s transfer to PSG and Champions League earnings—also wants a loan without any obligation to buy. Al-Hilal, capable of easily matching the transfer fee and offering more than Nunez’s £140,000-a-week Liverpool wage, were turned down by the player, who prioritises staying in top-tier European football.
Liverpool’s sporting director, Richard Hughes and manager Arne Slot are now exploring other options, including a potential swap deal with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, whose value and contract (expiring in 2026) are comparable to Nunez. However, unless a European club alters its stance and makes a firm bid, Nunez’s future at Anfield remains unresolved.
