Former Bologna sporting director Marco Di Vaio revealed that his working relationship with Motta was never truly smooth, describing him as someone who preferred to isolate himself rather than engage with the group. Despite leading Bologna to a historic Champions League qualification, Motta left to join Juventus — a move that ended poorly.
Motta lasted only eight months in Turin before being sacked in March 2025, and replaced by Igor Tudor. Reports suggest that Motta’s blunt style and aloof nature made him unpopular among players and staff. According to Di Vaio, the club even took steps back to give him space to work, highlighting the strained communication throughout his time in charge.
