Barcelona president Joan Laporta ruled out a move for Erling Haaland, citing his recent contract extension at Manchester City. Although financially stronger than last year, Barcelona will focus on strategic signings and youth promotion. With Lewandowski turning 37, striking reinforcements are needed, but Laporta left decisions to Deco and Flick ahead of a busy 2025 summer window.

When the 2025 summer transfer window approaches, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has ruled out the possibility of signing Erling Haaland, citing both financial practicality and the striker’s recent long-term contract extension with Manchester City. Although Laporta acknowledged that “almost nothing is impossible,” he admitted that Barcelona is not actively pursuing Haaland. Despite improved financial health compared to previous years, the Catalan club remains cautious.

Last summer, they could only afford Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor due to economic constraints. With Robert Lewandowski turning 37 and showing signs of decline, the need for a new striker is evident, but immediate big-money moves are unlikely. Hansi Flick had to use Ferran Torres out of position when Lewandowski was injured, exposing depth issues. Laporta confirmed that future transfer decisions will rest with sporting director Deco and head coach Flick, and he expects a busy summer focused on strengthening “every line” of the squad.

However, a key part of the club’s strategy will also involve integrating talents from La Masia. After the U-19 squad’s UEFA Youth League win in 2024–25, several academy players are poised for promotion. Barcelona's rebuild seems centered on a mix of targeted reinforcements and nurturing homegrown talent, rather than headline-grabbing transfers.
