ENG vs IND | Twitter in splits as Mohammed Siraj’s rush of blood gives Shoaib Bashir lucky scalp

Bowlers often find the tinge of green ending up picking with a wicket of a rank ordinary ball and Shoaib Bashir enjoyed a similar moment of fortune in the second Test. Mohammed Siraj charged down the wicket to hand the off spinner an unlikely wicket to end the Indian innings at Edgbaston on day two.

‌India extended their advantage from their overnight position as Shubman Gill completed his first double-century in Test cricket to take India past the 500-run mark during the first innings of the second Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Valuable contributions from Ravindra Jadeja (89) and Washington Sundar (42) meant India ended their first innings tally at 587 with Gill top-scoring for the side with a mammoth 269.

India’s innings, however, ended on a comical note with Mohammed Siraj the last man to be dismissed off spinner Shoaib Bashir. The tail-ender showed restraint and good defensive skills against the slower bowler to reach 8 from 22 balls before he eventually ran out of patience.

The Indian pacer gave the off-spinner the charge even before he released the ball from his hand. The tall Bashir who was intending to bowl a carrom ball got his line and length wrong as he bowled wide outside leg stump. But Siraj was already halfway down the track to play the big-ticket shot as the ball went past him to Jamie Smith.

The England wicketkeeper did the rest as he flashed the bails off in no time with Siraj distraught in the middle after understanding his mistake. Bashir acknowledged his fortune as he had a sheepish smile on his way to exchanging high-fives with the wicketkeeper.

Twitter could not help but laugh out loud as the England players joined to congratulate Bashir for his lucky dismissal.

Oh he just missed it completely!

Hahahaha!

He was about to score more runs for India!

Damn!

He is also out!

LOL!

Hahaha!

He is a bowler bro!

I'm dead after reading this!
