KL Rahul's unbeaten 112 off 65 balls was not enough for the Delhi Capitals to triumph over Gujarat Titans as the visitors chased down 200 with an over to spare, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday. Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill both ended the match unbeaten, the former scoring a 56-ball ton.

‌Asked to bat first, Delhi Capitals got off to a horrid start on a grass-laced Arun Jaitley Stadium surface as Faf du Plessis departed for five after faccing 10 deliveries. Abhishek Porel's 30 off 19 and Axar Patel's  off 16 gave the team impetus, but it was KL Rahul who dealt Gujarat Titans the majority of the damage with his first ton for the fanchise. The first-ever batter to score an IPL ton for three teams as well as the first DC batter to surpass three digits since 2020, Rahul ended unbeaten on 112 off 65 deliveries -- his last 62 runs coming at a strike rate of 200-plus after bringing up a haf-century off 35 balls. Combined with Tristan Stubbs' final flourish of 21 featuring two maximums in the 10-ball knock, the visitors managed to put up 199/4 on the board.

In response, Sai Sudharsan got the Titans off to a scintillating start with seven boundaries and a maximum in the powerplay itself. Even though Shubman Gill played sedately at the other end, batting at run-a-ball, his partner's efforts were enough to make the scorecard read a handsome 59/0 at the end of six overs. Thereafter, it was Gill's turn to take charge, registering sixes off Vipraj Nigam, Kuldeep Yadav, and Dushmantha Chameera to bring up a 33-ball half-century -- just three balls slower than his opening partner. By the 14th over, his attack on spinners had enabled him to well overtaken Sudharsan's strike rate, which only forced his younger partner to pick up the pace again and eventually brought up a 56-ball century to romp his team home to a 10-wicket victory.
