Laura Wolvaardt signed a two-year deal to extend her stay with Adelaide Strikers in the Women’s Big Bash League. The South Africa captain, who has been with the Strikers for five years and won two titles, became the franchise’s pre-draft overseas signing ahead of the WBBL 2025 season.

‌Laura Wolvaardt signed a two-year deal with Adelaide Strikers to continue her association with the side in the Women’s Big Bash League. Strikers signed her as the pre-draft overseas player with all the franchises being allowed to make one overseas signing ahead of the WBBL draft scheduled to be held on June 19.

The South Africa skipper first represented the Strikers in the WBBL 2020 season and has been with the side for the next five seasons playing 71 matches with a tally of 1726 runs, including eight fifties, at an average of 27.84 and a strike rate of 110.93.

In five seasons, the Protean batter has won two titles with the Strikers, in 2022 and 2023, and also reached the final in 2021. She was the top run-getter, and third overall, in the side’s title-winning run in 2022 amassing 403 runs in 16 matches while she was second behind Katie Mack with another 400-plus season when they defended the title in the next year.

"The club has become a second home to me, and I've made so many incredible memories here, especially our back-to-back championship wins," Wolvaardt said.

"While last season didn't go as we hoped, I'm incredibly excited about the future and determined to help bring more success to the Strikers and our amazing fans. I can't wait to get back to Adelaide with the team."

"Laura is a world-class player and a vital part of the Strikers family, so we are ecstatic to have her sign on for two more years,” Strikers head coach Luke Williams said.

"Her skill with the bat, combined with her leadership and experience, is invaluable. She has consistently performed under pressure and played a huge role in our previous championship successes. We know she will be a key pillar for us as we build towards a strong WBBL 11 season and beyond."
