Scott Carson has officially left Manchester City after six years, during which he played just two matches but was a valuable figure in the dressing room. At 39, the veteran goalkeeper departs with 11 major trophies, including four Premier League titles and the Champions League.
As the curtains fall on Scott Carson’s six-year spell at Manchester City, Erling Haaland has led tributes to the veteran goalkeeper, praising him as the “kind of teammate every squad needs.” Carson, now 39, made just two appearances for City—totalling 108 minutes—but played a vital role behind the scenes, offering leadership, experience, and a strong presence in training.
Despite limited game time, Carson was part of one of City’s most successful eras under Pep Guardiola, celebrating 11 major trophies including four Premier League titles, the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Champions League, and Club World Cup. His last appearance came in the 2021-22 Champions League tie against Sporting Lisbon. A former England international with four caps, Carson had a career spanning top-flight stints with Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Brom, and overseas with Bursaspor, as well as playing for Wigan and Derby in the Championship. He was also part of England’s 2010 World Cup squad.
Manchester City, in an official statement, thanked him for his dedication, noting the praise he earned from coaches and peers like Ederson and Stefan Ortega. As Carson prepares for the next chapter, his influence off the pitch remains a lasting legacy at the Etihad.
