Manchester United will submit a new offer for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo after their £45m plus £5m add-ons bid was rejected. Brentford demands £60m. Despite Tottenham's push under new boss Thomas Frank, Mbeumo still prefers United. With no European football next season, United’s further signings depend on player sales. Spurs remain a serious threat.
For the second time this summer, Manchester United are preparing a fresh bid to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, despite Tottenham Hotspur entering the race. United’s initial offer of £45 million plus £5 million in add-ons was rejected, as Brentford demand a guaranteed £60 million. Mbeumo, 25, is reportedly still leaning towards a move to Old Trafford, even though former Brentford boss Thomas Frank—now managing Spurs—has opened talks to lure him to North London.
United had been favourites after Mbeumo reportedly chose them over Arsenal, Newcastle, and Spurs. However, Tottenham’s new manager may sway the situation, with Mbeumo intrigued by the possibility of reuniting with Frank. Manchester United, who finished a disappointing 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final to Spurs, face a summer without European football. This financial strain means any further signings beyond Mbeumo depend heavily on player sales.
United have already spent £62.5 million on Matheus Cunha, making it the summer’s biggest deal so far. If they land Mbeumo, manager Ruben Amorim will shift focus to signing a new striker. Meanwhile, competition for alternatives like Hugo Ekitike, Viktor Gyökeres, and Victor Osimhen is heating up, especially from clubs with Champions League status.
