Manchester United's £60 million-plus bid for Bryan Mbeumo has been rejected by Brentford. Brentford's director confirmed strong interest but insisted a deal will only proceed if the right offer is made.
After the rejection of two transfer bids, Manchester United’s pursuit of Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo is still unresolved. United, under manager Ruben Amorim, made the 25-year-old Cameroon international their top target following the £62.5 million signing of Matheus Cunha. However, their initial £55 million bid was turned down by Brentford, followed by a second offer exceeding £60 million, which was also rejected.
While no third bid has been officially made, frustrations are reportedly growing on both Mbeumo’s and Amorim’s sides due to the stalled negotiations. Amorim is eager to finalise the deal before United’s upcoming pre-season tour of the United States. Despite the uncertainty, Mbeumo reported back for pre-season training at Brentford’s Robert Rowan Performance Centre on Monday, where he was seen with teammates including Yoanne Wissa and Ethan Pinnock.
Brentford’s Director of Football Phil Giles acknowledged a strong interest in Mbeumo but emphasised that the forward is also willing to remain at the club if no agreement is reached. Mbeumo had an outstanding season, attracting significant attention across Europe. However, as it stands, he remains a Brentford player with the possibility of staying put for the 2025-26 season if Manchester United do not meet the club’s valuation.
