After being released from his loan spell at Arsenal, Raheem Sterling finds himself at a critical crossroads. Once a key figure at Manchester City, where he scored 131 goals and provided 86 assists in 339 appearances while lifting 11 trophies, including four Premier League titles, Sterling’s career has drastically declined since his £47.5 million move to Chelsea three years ago.
At Arsenal, the winger struggled immensely, scoring just once in 28 matches. Now 30, Sterling is no longer part of the England setup, having last featured for the national team in December 2022 during the World Cup quarter-final loss to France. Once hailed as England’s sixth youngest debutant, he’s now completely out of the picture. Chelsea are desperate to offload him, with two years still left on his contract.
Under new manager Enzo Maresca, there seems to be no future for Sterling at Stamford Bridge. A new loan or a move to a mid-table Premier League club or abroad, possibly Turkey, are among his few realistic options. Sterling still has time on his side, but unless he reignites his passion and form, his career may continue to spiral downward with limited opportunities on the horizon.
