After appointing Thomas Frank as their new head coach, Tottenham Hotspur are making aggressive moves in the transfer market. Spurs are preparing a £61 million (€70m) bid to sign Bournemouth’s Illya Zabarnyi, aiming to beat Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool to the 22-year-old Ukrainian defender. Despite PSG having agreed personal terms with Zabarnyi, their failure to meet Bournemouth’s valuation opens the door for Spurs, who are reportedly willing to meet and possibly exceed the asking price with bonuses.
Zabarnyi, already capped 49 times by Ukraine, has become a Premier League standout, with teammate Philip Billing calling him “unbelievable.” He could be the next big departure from Bournemouth following the exits of Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez. Tottenham have already strengthened by signing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham and finalizing deals for Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel. Japanese talent Kota Takai has also joined the squad.
In midfield, Spurs are pursuing Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig and remain in talks with Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White after activating his £60 million release clause. However, Forest have raised concerns about alleged pre-clause contact. Meanwhile, Spurs are also eyeing a Bayern Munich midfielder, with the German club lowering their price tag.
