Chelsea’s pursuit of Stuttgart’s 17-goal forward Nick Woltemade has ended in rejection. The 23-year-old German star, who also impressed at the U21 Euros, opted for a move to Bayern Munich instead. Despite interest from Chelsea, Napoli, and Everton, Woltemade informed Stuttgart of his decision, with a verbal agreement already in place with Bayern.
For the Chelsea management and their new boss Enzo Maresca, the chance of signing the Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade has ended in disappointment. The 23-year-old German forward, who scored 17 goals and provided 3 assists last season while playing primarily as a second striker, has turned down a move to Stamford Bridge. Despite Chelsea’s recent contact with both Stuttgart and the player’s representatives, Woltemade has opted for a switch to Bayern Munich instead.
Woltemade also impressed in Germany’s U21 European Championship run, scoring 6 times and helping the team reach the final. According to Bild’s Julian Agarde, the striker has already informed Stuttgart of his firm desire to join Bayern, rejecting not just Chelsea but Napoli as well.
Sources suggest Bayern and Woltemade have reached a verbal agreement, and club negotiations are now underway to finalise the fee. Meanwhile, Chelsea has redirected their focus toward Brighton’s Joao Pedro. Talks are ongoing, and Chelsea are attempting to push through a deal before the second Club World Cup registration window closes on July 3. Brighton have already rejected two bids over £50 million, but Pedro remains keen on the move, with Newcastle also showing interest in the Brazilian forward.
