With the summer 2025 transfer window closed temporarily at 19:00 BST on 10 June, Premier League clubs entered a mini Deadline Day, shaped by FIFA’s scheduling around the upcoming Club World Cup beginning on 15 June. To allow clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea — England’s Club World Cup participants — to register players early, the window opened on 1 June.

However, FIFA’s rule limiting combined annual window periods to 16 weeks required a pause, leading to a split-window structure. The transfer period resumes on 16 June and runs until 1 September, closing earlier than usual at 19:00 BST. Several big moves were confirmed during this short window. Manchester United signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, while Liverpool secured Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen.

Manchester City strengthened by signing Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves, and Chelsea added Liam Delap and Mamadou Sarr to their squad. Reported last-minute targets include Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki for City, while Liverpool were linked to Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz. Clubs could still finalise deals using the deal sheet mechanism, which allows an extension until 21:00 BST if submitted by 17:00 BST. The special structure ensures teams are prepared for FIFA’s expanded competitions without violating transfer regulations.
