Manchester United aim to replace Andre Onana, who conceded 65 goals in the 2024–25 season. However, due to INEOS owning stakes in both United and Nice, they are currently blocked from signing Polish keeper Marcin Bulka. With uncertainty surrounding both Onana and Bayindir, manager Ruben Amorim is exploring other options ahead of next season.
With the 2024–25 season concluded, Manchester United are seriously considering replacing Andre Onana as their first-choice goalkeeper. Onana, signed in 2023 to succeed David De Gea, conceded 65 goals this past season and struggled to maintain consistent form, often being replaced by backup keeper Altay Bayindir. New head coach Ruben Amorim has not ruled out a change between the posts, emphasizing the need for improvement across all positions.
Despite speculation, a move for Nice’s Marcin Bulka is off the table due to INEOS owning stakes in both Manchester United and Nice, making direct transfers between the clubs a conflict under UEFA regulations. Bulka, who kept eight clean sheets in Ligue 1 last season and seeks a new challenge, remains unavailable to United for now. Meanwhile, former United goalkeeper Ben Foster suggested the club should move for top-tier options like Argentina's Emi Martínez.
Foster believes Onana may succeed elsewhere but hasn’t proven himself worthy of being Manchester United’s long-term number one. With Onana and Bayindir’s futures uncertain and veteran Tom Heaton likely staying as third-choice, United’s goalkeeping situation remains a key topic heading into the summer transfer window. Amorim’s summer rebuild could begin with a major shake-up in goal.
