WSF vs TSK, First Qualifier abandoned due to rain

Washington Freedom have qualified for the final of the ongoing Major League Cricket 2025. They made it to the summit clash for finishing first in the point standings after their first qualifier clash against Texas Super Kings got abandoned due to rain, and not even a single ball was bowled.

MLC 2025’s first qualifier between Washington Freedom and Texas Super Kings ended up getting abandoned without a ball bowled. The heavy rain could make only the toss possible, and the game was eventually called off given the absence of a reserve day.

Following the abandonment of the first qualifier, Glenn Maxwell’s Washington Freedom have secured a direct spot in the tournament’s final, scheduled to be played on Monday, July 14. The Freedom qualified for the final owing to their top position in the tournament standings at the end of the league stage.

On the other hand, the Faf du Plessis-led Texas Super Kings will now play the second qualifier on Saturday, July 12. They will face the winner of the Eliminator game, which is scheduled to be played between the MI New York and the San Francisco Unicorns on Thursday, July 10, at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas.

As for Washington Freedom’s performance in the tournament’s league stage, they finished as table leaders, with an outstanding run of form throughout the tournament. Maxwell’s men won eight games while losing only two in their 10 league matches, having 16 points to their name, with an impressive net run rate of 0.954. They are also coming off two consecutive wins in their last two league matches and would look to get the job done come D-Day.
