MI New York made the most of ideal batting conditions after being sent in with openers Quinton de Kock and Monank Patel coming good yet again. de Kock was precise and fluent as he struck the ball cleanly through cover and midwicket, while Monank Patel also continued his stellar form with a breezy 47 in just 28 balls. But a mini wobble in the middle saw SEO crawl their way back into the match. However, Michael Bracewell reignited the innings with 3 sixes and two fours in his 17-ball 35, pushing the total to a competitive 193/6 in 20 overs. Harmeet Singh and Gerald Coetzee were the pick of the Orcas’ bowling attack with figures of 2/30 and 2/36 in their respective four overs.
In pursuit of 194, Seattle Orcas began aggressively with David Warner and Kyle Mayers launching an early assault. Mayers in particular was brutal, smashing four sixes and four fours during his knock of 50 off 30 balls. But the introduction of Bracewell and Naveen-ul-Haq changed the game’s rhythm as the duo applied brakes to the scoring with regular breakthroughs. Though skipper Heinrich Klaasen and Shimron Hetmyer tried to stabilize, wickets kept falling with the asking rates also climbing up. Naveen’s death-over prowess, featuring two wickets in the 18th over, effectively sealed the chase as SEO finished at 181/8. The medium-pacer picked up 3/28 in four overs while Bracewell ended with 2/27 as MI NY clinched their second win of the season. Orcas, however, will have to wait longer to taste their first win in the current campaign.
