WATCH, MLC | Despairing Holder screams in appeal as bails remain glued to stumps despite impact

Sometimes there is only so much you can do in sports -- if Lady Luck is against you, the fine margins at the elite levels will more often than not guarantee your failure. Jason Holder experienced that sinking feeling in the MLC on Saturday when a pitch-perfect yorker earned him no rewards.
Seattle Orcas clinched a thriller at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Saturday as they edged out the Los Angeles Knight Riders by five-wickets. Chasing 203, the Orcas got across the line on the penultimate ball of the match after Shimron Hetmyer's whirlwind unbeaten knock of 64 from just 26 deliveries turned the game on its head just when the Knight Riders seemed to have sealed the contest in their favour. Skipper Jason Holder would feel especially hard done by the result, given how he was deprived a wicket despite getting everything right at a crucial juncture of the contest.
The Orcas were cruising at 118/1 after 11 overs with Aaron Jones providing the fireworks and Shayan Jahangir playing anchor when Holder decided to bring himself into the attack. The former Windies skipper steamed in from around the stumps and delivered a dream yorker angling across Shayan and hitting the base of off-stump, completely flummoxing the batter's absurd reverse scoop attempt. However, much to the pacer's misfortune, the bails remained intact on top of the stumps despite a significant impact of the Kookaburra with the poles, with slow motion even capturing the wicket moving significantly before penduluming back to its original stump.
Such was the disbelief for Holder that he went up in loud appeal and even after the umpire said a firm no, the veteran kept appealing before signalling for a review that was never to be.
Jason Holder hits the stumps, but the bail doesn’t fall! 😱 Talk about a lucky escape for Shayan Jahangir 🍀
